Multi-Generational Lens

If you closed your eyes and envisioned Lakeway in 10 years, what would that look like? What would the typical family look like? How would they interact with each other and their community? Prior to my mom’s death in March of 2018, my home was filled with five people from four generational categories. My mom, a Traditionalist, my husband a Baby Boomer, myself, a Generation Xer, and my younger kids, Gen Zers. Five people who grew up developing values in different social, economic, technological and political norms. Despite this, we were expected to contribute, cooperate, and thrive. Similar to the citizens of our community, just on a smaller scale.

Development. Roads, Buildings, People. What does development mean to you? Webster’s says development is the act, process, or result of developing. It offers synonyms such as evolution, expansion, growth and progress. The City Council of Lakeway is always under development. It never has an endpoint, it is constantly in a state of evolution. Term limits as documented in the City Charter, limit service to 2 terms as a councilmember and 2 terms as a mayor. These term limits are in place to guarantee the citizens of Lakeway that their government is always progressing. Fresh ideas, new view-points, and new processes are only a few things that term limits, by nature of what they are, bring to the table.

Hello Monday

Monday. It gets a bad rap. I love Monday. It is the reset button of each of week. It holds promise and it is a great day to refine and reposition your goals. This is my first Monday as a candidate for the position of City Councilmember for the City of Lakeway. How exciting is that? Civil engagement is the cornerstone of volunteerism. It can be political or non-political. What matters is that you channel your knowledge, skills, values and motivation to promote the quality of life in your community.
