Friday. TGIF. Friyay! Freedom. What does Friday mean to you? This Friday at 5:00PM is the deadline for applications to run for either a council seat or the Mayor’s office. The attention toward the importance of local elections is on the rise. The media coverage that has been focused on our city has churned the need for oversight, focus and engagement within our municipality and beyond. This brings us back to freedom. The freedom to cast our vote as we see fit, the freedom to elect representatives who we feel align with our values and freedom to speak about what is important to you.
This leads toward our an inalienable right to cast our vote in our local election May 4, 2019. The opportunity to stand at the polls and cast a vote first starts with registering to vote. This can be done here: https://travis.go2gov.net/voterreg/vexpress/registration.do . The deadline to register for this election cycle is April 4, 2019. Once registered you can begin to vote during the early voting period which begins April 22, 2019 and goes through April 30, 2019. If you can’t make that window, the official polling day is May 4, 2019 which to all the Star Wars fans out there is best day of the year. May the 4th (force) be with you to cast your vote and make your voice heard. #votevance
